Picks of the Pumpkin Patch

There are so many stories about pumpkins and Halloween. But I look at books with an educator’s eye.

And I am not interested in stories about Peppa and her pumpkin, fantastical ghosts, or families of witches for children under the age of around 5 and a half years. Fantasy can come later.

I know that young children need to stay close to reality before approaching fantasy.

The book you want for learning about the pumpkins:

The Pumpkin Seed’s Secret, by Hannah Barnaby and Cedric Abt

A sweet, modern story that completes your Halloween bookshelf:

Stumpkin, by Lucy Ruth Cummins

Enjoy!
